Banging the drum for companies, charities and organisations, to help them tell their stories.
Banging the drum for companies, charities and organisations, to help them tell their stories.
This self promotional Showreel animation brings my illustration, animation and music skills together. I've been playing the drums for about 40 years since I was a kid, so it shows who I am. It wasn't an easy task to get all the characters timing in place, but it was great fun!
The World Mission Fund Campaign Animation. The Methodist church approached me to produce an animation for their World Mission Fund Campaign. Working with their Connexional Team this story brings to life two real people and how their lives have been impacted with the support of the World Mission Fund.
A short animated film for LUX Youth Project. Depicting a story of a young girl and her daily struggles with school and family life. LUX come alongside young people through mentoring in schools. Through activities and conversation, young people can talk, share and explore the issues important to them. It’s a powerful intervention and young people report how much they want and benefit from this service.
Wishing you joy and hope Christmas 2023. A self promotional animation combining my illustrated characters, animation and music producing the backing track.

I am driven by creating purposeful work that makes a difference. I enjoy working together with my clients to bring their ideas to life with the aim to bring about awareness and create change.
Bringing a purposeful story to life in a short animation using my illustrated characters, can really capture who you are as an organisation and what you want to say. I like to get to know my clients and understand the story they want to tell and the message they want to send. I aim to help my clients build connection and trust with their audience and create animations that make a difference.
I often work with subjects that may have a sensitive nature and can be portrayed through characters rather than real life people. Animation is a great tool for this. I also love to bring a sense of humour into my animations when it is appropriate. I find a good sense of timing is always important with my work. Whatever the story, allowing enough space is key.
In my spare time I love playing music - guitar, bass guitar and drums. I play in my local church. When I was a teenager I realised that my two main passions in life were art and music and I’m continually learning how to get better at both of these. This is where I feel animation brings many of my skills together.
Scott has worked with The Methodist Church of Great Britain to create an informational animation about our work with the World Mission Fund. Scott was an excellent communicator, setting out timelines and objectives throughout the process, keeping us informed of developments at each stage.
His work was to a fantastic standard, working with us to tell the story of our work and translate our message to the audiences we will be looking to reach. Scott created illustrations for characters, settings and backgrounds and brought together the final animation along with suggestions for voiceover and music accompaniment.
We highly recommend Scott and his fantastic work!
Ben Lawrence
Digital Content Producer
After we worked with a young person to write the script, Scott took on our animation project, fleshing out the storyboard and creating the look of the character and visuals. He was good at listening to what we wanted and adapting his work with our suggestions until it was just right. Scott helped us record the voice over and worked carefully and sensitively to bring the animation to life. The video is great and because it’s timeless, we can use it for years to come to communicate the service we offer. I would recommend using Scott and would very happily use him again because he took the time to listen and really capture what we wanted.

Lead Schools worker & Volunteer Coordinator
I have to say, I'm absolutely delighted with the outcome - after connecting, Scott met me for coffee to get to know each other and talk about the project. We then walked around #BradfordonAvon together to take source photos for his work.
This is not something you can replicate with AI and is a perfect example of how, I believe, personal service and human interaction will remain incredibly important.
The end result has far exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend Scott to anyone.

I was not sure what to expect when I asked Scott to create an animated version of me saying a prayer but he took on the project with enthusiasm and I’m thrilled with the results. Scott has created something clear and simple that focuses on just the right details without fussy distractions. He was a pleasure to work with and gave clear communication and updates along the way. He listened to my feedback and offered creative solutions, which I’m particularly thankful for. The finished product is professional and I’m proud to use it in my app, God for Kids.

I always turn to Scott when I need inspiration and a job well done. He has helped with our charity over many years and, as a result of his creative and eye catching designs, he has raised a lot of money for us. He thinks with his heart as well as his head and this is reflected in his work. The new charity logo he designed, leaflet designs, publicity handouts, and Christmas cards have all proved excellent. No job is too small and he even organises the printing and brings me the finished product!

From thinking to sketching ideas and developing them, it comes from me. If I need to draft out a storyboard I draft it out sketching my ideas. Developing and refining them is all part of the process. I don't use AI functionality within software.
For animation projects where I need a voice over, I use a real voice over artist. I collaborate to achieve an end result a client expects.
I am human and it is important to me to build a relationship with my clients and not put AI slop in front of them.
Mr Slop - he can't draw, he can't be creative or original. He trawls the internet scraping and stealing copyrighted work from artists, illustrators and creatives without permission. His mission is to scrape enough data as he can in broad daylight. Stick it in a big data mixing bowl, spit out AI slop and try to charge people for what is known as stolen goods, or when I was young the term was ‘off the back of a lorry’!
He was created by big tech with a business model of stealing copyrighted work to train their models in order to generate AI imagery. This is called copyright infringement, taking someone else’s intellectual property. Unfortunately there currently isn’t government legislation in place to stop him.
The sad reality is, most of us artists can't claim our work has been scraped as they have stolen from so many 1000s of artists worldwide that a generated piece is a mix of so many artists’ work.
However, times are changing, government legislation is taking shape around AI and copyright with the work of the AOI (Association of Illustrators) and many other trade bodies. Just like we are seeing legislation taking shape around children’s mobile phones and social media with the great work from Smartphone Free Childhood, it will happen with AI.
AI is also becoming extremely expensive and not viable or cost effective. The large industrial data centres are also extremely bad for the environment which makes them very unpopular when many of us are environmetally conscious.
I would never put my faith in large tech companies. As a Christian I put my faith in God, the sustainer and creator of the amazing world we all live in. He made each one of us individually and to use our gifts, which is what I'm trying to do and to get better at each day!
