Client: PassFail Consulting Ltd.
Commission: To create an original colour illustrated Christmas card for PassFail Consulting Ltd. Before meeting up with the client I had suggested to them to think about ideas for the card and how they could portray what they do as a business into an illustration. PassFail carry out a testing procedure that results in Pass or Fail, on manufactured small digital chips that are found in all kinds of devices we use in our every day lives such as phones, domestic appliances and more. Upon meeting them they had established a great idea of having a technician/engineer sat at a computer in a typical circuit factory. He needed a surprised facial expression as Santa Claus’s face was to appear on the computer screen wafer map. The screen was to have a colour chart showing Pass (Green) and Fail (Red) plus additional sub categories of failure colours.
Above shows an example of my progress as the illustration developed. Starting top left I sketched out the idea and worked up Santa’s face on the computer screen. Next top right, yes that’s me! There is nothing like using some good reference and I don’t mind making myself look funny if the moment arises. Bottom left, this is the final pencil sketch that was approved before starting the digital illustration. Bottom right shows my illustration outline drawn up with some colour being added.
After the project was completed I arranged for a Giclée print to be produced which I then signed and arranged for this to be framed. This is something else I offered to PassFail Consulting Ltd at the start of this project which they decided to take up.
